Pendant swing

Here are a couple photos of a swing I made from salvaged maple flooring and angle iron.  The swing is hung with stainless steel cable.  It measures 6' x 3.5' and is very heavy.  It moves gently like a boat in soft waves.

Diptychs

Here are two recent diptychs made of recycled wood and found object steel with milk paint finish.

Benches

I've made several benches lately.  The first is made of recycled wood beams and steel.  It's 6' long and is very heavy.  The next is made with found steel and a large chunk of beam.  Both of these benches are on consignment at Harlow Garden Center in Tucson.

The last bench is just finished and still needs to rust a bit.  The entire frame is steel and the seat is concrete pavers.  It's made for very low maintenance and long life.  It's very comfortable too!

Garden sculptures

"Dioptic"  This steel piece is at Tohono Chul Park for the summer as part of their show "Stone Metal Wood".  The center panel, though heavy, swings in the lightest breeze.

"Cosmic Timepiece 2"  This tall sculpture of wood and steel is in the garden at Miraval Resort and Spa north of Tucson.  It, like the other sculptures there, is for sale.

"Fish Stick"  This piece, made from found objects and recycled steel swims through the garden at 6' above the ground.  It's on a tall metal rod and is supported by a heavy concrete base.

Poplar owls

Here's a group of owls made from a piece of Tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera). The board came from a 19th century Kentucky barn and was completely gray and one side was covered with roofing tar. So I was surprised to see the strong green stripe running through the wood as I removed the tar. Poplar often has a bit of green in it, but I've never seen it this saturated.

I was making these for a sale this weekend, but I think they might have to stay in my collection for a while. I'll never get another piece of wood like that.
